Cannabis FAQ's for your marijuana card

The Office of Medical Marijuana is the department that manages the Florida medical marijuana program. Sometimes called the OMMU, the medical marijuana use registry, MMURegistry or OMMU: the Office of Medical Marijuana Use Registry is where Florida residents go for Florida state cannabis information:
    • to register for the Florida medical marijuana card (sometimes called a weed card)
    • to find out if you have been approved by the state for medical marijuana
    • re-registering for your medical marijuana card annually
    • check out how many mg you have left on your medical marijuana recommendation.
The Florida OMMU Medical Marijuana Use Registry is the Florida Department of Health system that holds the Florida medical marijuana information. The doctor enters their recommendation into the OMMUR and the dispensaries can view it so you can buy marijuana in Florida.

There are 2 ways to find out if you've obtained OMMU Approval for Florida medical marijuana use.

    1. The state emails you to notify you after your application has been reviewed, they've accepted your payment, and patients been approved. That email can sometimes land in the junk/spam folder and sometimes doesn't arrive at all.
    2. Or, patients can log in to your account at MMU Registry FL Health to check your account.
Congratulations! You can visit a medical marijuana treatment center (MMTC), which is what Florida calls their dispensaries! The medical marijuana physicians enter the methods of marijuana intake that they approve you for as well as the mg of medical marijuana THC that they feel is appropriate. You can always log in to your registry account to check your medical marijuana status, recommended medical marijuana treatment, and mg's remaining.

It's the same process as when you first got your card. Log on to the MMURegistry website and follow the instructions. Also, don't forget that patients have to visit medical marijuana physicians at least every 7 months. Physicians can provide more information on their specific office rules.

The OMMU can help you if you have any issues

A person has to be at least 18 years or older.
Employers have a right to drug test and fire patients who test positive for marijuana, regardless of their medical use. Some employers may excuse patients if they have valid recommentation from physicians and others wont. If you have questions regarding job drug testing, you should discuss those concerns with your employer or the Human Resources department. Ultimately, even if you are a legal medical marijuana in California, the status of your job after drug testing is up to your employer.
Benefits of Having a Medical Cannabis Card

There are numerous benefits to having a medical cannabis card. Firstly, having a medical cannabis card allows patients to legally purchase and possess medical marijuana from licensed dispensaries. This means that patients have access to a wider range of products and can be assured of their quality and safety.

    Larger possession limits

Medical cannabis patients can possess and purchase up to 8oz of flower, compared to only 1oz of flower for recreational cannabis users! Many local cities allow medical cannabis, but not recreational.

    Access for Patients Under 21

Patients 21 and over may choose to skip the medical marijuana card. But patients under 21 must get a recommendation to legally use cannabis. Having a medical cannabis card can provide legal protection for patients who use medical marijuana to manage their symptoms.

    Purchase any Products

Medical patients have access to exotic strains and higher-concentration edibles that aren’t available to recreational users. Having a medical card will grant you access to any Bureau of Cannabis Control licensed marijuana dispensary in your area.
